Located on the corner of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, the SAHARA Hotel Las Vegas sits on the far north end of the Strip, right off the I-15, just before merging into the Downtown area. *So just to recap… the Sahara, to the SLS, back to the SAHARAįUN FACT! *The empty and undelovp[ed space next to the SAHARA hotel used to be the city’s original Wet ‘n Wild waterpark (which sadly closed in 2004) In 2011 the SAHARA closed after it was purchased by Sam Nazarian who invested over $400 million to redesign and rebrand the property to the SLS Hotel Las Vegas, (SLS stood for Style, Luxury & Service) which later opened in 2013.Īfter a few short years, it became obvious the SLS wasn’t working out and the property was yet sold again, this time to The Meruelo Group and in August of 2019, Las Vegans learned we would get our SAHARA hotel back.
